Steamed Brussels Sprouts tossed with Butter

Serves 4 | Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total time: 15-20 minutes

Note: Brussels sprouts’ cook time will vary according to their size and age. Check small brussels sprouts at 4 minutes; medium brussels sprouts at 5 minutes; and large brussels sprouts at 6 minutes.


Ingredients

3/4 pound brussels sprouts

Salt

3 TB butter


Method

  1. Wash brussels sprouts and cut off the ends.

  2. In a large pot bring 1 inch of water to boil.

  3. Place brussels sprouts in a steamer basket and place over the boiling water. Cover and steam. Check by poking with a fork after 4 minutes, and then every minute thereafter until they are just tender through.

  4. Transfer the brussels to a serving bowl, and dump the water from the pan. Place butter in pan over a low heat until it melts. Add to bowl and toss. Serve hot.
